Our Design Process
Getting to Know You.
Any project with Brownstone and Sage begins with a free exploration meeting. This can be done virtually or in person and during this meeting we will get to know you, your goals for the project, and make sure that we are a good fit to help you accomplish everything you want for your space.
Consultation.
After the initial exploration, we will schedule an “in space” consultation to see your project area in person. During this visit, we will walk through all spaces in the project scope and discuss preliminary design ideas, special concepts, and budget as well as taking initial measurements and reference photos. We will also make sure any questions that you may have are answered and discuss options for next steps.
Design.
Our next step is to begin building out your design, this will start with curating the themes, products and finishes into a personalized vision board where you can begin to get a feel for how the space will come together. This process helps us to make sure that our design not only fits your goals but that all individual pieces accentuate each other into a truly curated space. Simultaneously, we will work on floor plans to address flow and usage of the space. It is important to us that the form and function truly merge in all of our work so a space is both beautiful and easy to live in. Once we have worked with you to approve the pieces of the design we make sure everything is just right for you so we are able to move on to implementation.
Implementation.
Once the design has been confirmed, we begin the implementation process. We work closely with the contractors to make sure that all work in your space is completed with precision and detail. We are happy to work with your preferred contractors or to identify contractors we trust for your project. In addition, we offer purchasing and placement for furniture and home accessories to finish out your design.
Full Design Package Options
Design and Project Management
The “Design and Project Management” package exists with the intention of creating the least amount of stress to the client throughout the project process. The design and project management service is full service from concept to completion. We work closely with the client to curate the perfect design that seamlessly dovetails their individual style into form and functionality. We then manage sourcing of all materials, purchases, and all aspects of the construction and implementation that are agreed upon in the contract.

For the Weekend Warrior
The perfect option for the client who wants to take on their own DIY remodel but needs guidance at any level. We work with the client to arrive at their perfect design and source all materials. This allows us to use our experience to be sure that the client is getting the highest quality materials available to them. Clients will receive floorplan layouts, design boards, space renderings, and guidance on installations as well as support through their own installation.
Investment: Priced Per Project
Design Only
Design Only is perfect for the client who isn’t ready to begin construction yet or is just interested in putting a design plan and budget together. This is also a great package for the client who already has a preferred installer but needs assistance with the design and searching out those perfect pieces.

Consultation Package Options
A Design Perspective
A one hour consultation in the client’s project space. The perfect option for the person who needs a critical eye, some immediate design direction, or an infusion of creativity and inspiration. You are free to ask any design questions you can come up with! We often receive questions about color, furniture placement, built-ins, etc. You will get thoughtful and honest answers.
Investment: $200
Color & Finish Consultation
A one hour consultation in the client’s project space. The option best suited for the person who needs guidance on finishes and paint colors choices. We are glad to work with you on a single room or on a full house color scheme. Pricing is based on a 4-5 room color plan. For more than 5 rooms there is a $50 per room additional cost.
Our preferred product lines include Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Farrow and Ball . A color fan deck will be brought to the meeting. Two color scheme plans will be delivered digitally within one week.
Investment: $250
Home Staging Consultation
A one hour consultation in the client’s home. This package is for those preparing to put their house on the market and who need guidance on prioritizing repairs, and upgrades to help their home show its best without sinking in more money than they can get in return. Suggestions will range from repairs to paint changes, curb appeal and space usage. Photos will be taken during the consultation to be used in the report.
Pricing is based on a 1500 square foot home, there is a $100 additional cost per 500 square feet.
An assessment and project list will be delivered digitally within one week.
